Hey all, I wanted to get some opinions/suggestions on Aftermarket Intakes & Exhausts, first off is there much out there yet for the 19's? Everything I see only shows through 18. So what if any are good Intakes to run, I had experience with AFE & AEM on my 02 but that has been over 10 years since then. Also for exhaust who is out there now that is working well and how are they being ran, turbo back, dumped or...? Any and all Opinions welcome please.

Also please keep in mind I do "SORRY TO SAY" still reside in good ol' Screw-ya-fornia, so i have to consider those restrictions for now.

Thanks

If you are asking about your air intake and filter, I would use the factory filter and intake. These will support up to 500HP and not damage your turbo. The factory air intake system has active shutters that will open and close as needed in response to the engines needs. Aftermarket air filters tend to allow more debris (dirt) to enter the air to the Turbo allowing the turbo blades to become pitted along with dirt entering the cylinder walls and engine oil!

If you live in CALIF. I don't think you can do a TBE from what I have read about that state. Since they do emission checks and according to what I have read (even on this forum) they are checking to ensure that the emission components are not gutted.

Another item to remember is if you delete the exhaust you will need a tuner/programmer to fool the ECM, otherwise the truck will go into LIMP mode! There are sensors that interface with the exhaust to monitor pollution levels so, the truck ECM will trigger the DEF to spray into the exhaust along with regeneration of the DPF if needed (simply version).

These trucks are a lot more complicated than your old 2002 Dodge was!

Factory.

Do you really think the engineers would leave a lot of power on the table with improper airflow?

The stock intake will support as much cold air as the stock turbo can ingest, so if the turbo is staying stock so should the intake.

Nothing to do on the exhaust unless you remove some components, then you run into emissions inspections issue.

I second this, leave it alone, this is not the old days. Everything in it is designed to deliver the rated HP, that is determined from the ECM. You won't gain a single HP from rework the intake or exhaust. And dont even think about lowering any temperatures - oil, air, anything within the system. The ECM controls them all and if one is to low or to high it will react to bring it into spec.
For example install a colder thermostat - it will run in warm-up mode all the time, try to reach the desired temperature.

As already said, do yourself a favor, don't touch the drivetrain of this truck. You will gain absolutely nothing but a lighter wallet, no warrentee and legal issue with emissions.
Aftermarket air systems are all hype and good for nothing unless ones doing extreme mods to the engine. They just "dust" your engine. We even now have cold air ram intakes on these trucks from the factory that automatically kick in in the right temperature/load conditions.

WoW!! that's amazing, the Gov. definitely did a hell of a job locking these beasts down(Emissions, DEF, DPF, etc.). I really enjoyed tinkering/ modding my 02. Thanks you guys for all the advice, I think I will just leave it alone. Maybe i will stick with just modding the Power Wagon. Its an 08' with only 30k miles.
