I finally got the chance to tow something with my Cummins over the 3-day weekend. It was only a 2700lb travel trailer, but it was about 80 and I was towing over a mountain pass. I did a check on the price of all of the parts to do the conversion to the later radiator and it is about $800! I have a couple of questions:

Does anoone know of a place the builds customer radaitors for a reasonable price?

I remember someone saying that they had a baffle put in the top tank-how much of a difference does that make?

Thanks!

Hey Terry,

I don't know if an outfit called JB Radiator Specialties has shops in your neck of the woods but they're a good choice. I've had good luck with them. As for the baffle, its a piece of brass sheet curved into a shape kinda like one quarter of a cylinder. It's soldered into the top tank front and back walls and it works to divert the water flow across the top to the tubes on the far side of the radiatorso the water doesn't try to "short cycle" by going from the top tank straight down to the bottom outlet. It doesn't block all of the flow, just enough so the entire core shares the job of cooling.

Hope this answers your question.
