Time for tires,... I'm having trouble when it rains at start off, Spinning and fish tailin :0
I like the Hankook Dynapro Atms And also the Cooper A/T3 and I want to go with the 285-70-17
Two local tire shops are advising me to go with these,
Which one should i go with?

I really dont want a high priced tire
Any input is great!

I put the cooper discover ht3 on both of my drw trucks in the 235/80 size and love them they ride and wear as good as the Michelin on my 2500. I got both sets for a little over $900 a set

5 years ago I would have answered "neither" and suggested you stick with either Michelin or Toyo or Nitto. Nowadays though I feel as if Cooper has upped their quality game and so that beign said, I have added the Cooper AT3 to my truck tire list after buying them for my Toyota ranch truck. NOT sure how they will fair on a larger, 8000# truck, but I like them on the Toyota.
I still prefer Toyo or Nitto or Michelin on the Ram. In fact, I undersatnd that Michelin is making their LTX Defender M/S in a 285/70/17 E, so I might check that out for my next set of shoes on the big truck even though I prefer an AT instead of HT tread...IME, you just can;t beat Michelin for stabiltiy, ride and wear.

I am a Nitto and Michelin tire fan, I run both tires manufactures on my truck. I use the Nitto's tires for summer towing use, LT285/70R17 126R; and the Michelin tires for winter use they are LT265/70R17E.

Well, i am on on the planner to have Cooper Discover At3 285-70-17's put on my truck on tue next week. I think i'll be pleased. Thanks for the replies!

I think you will be happy with the coopers. I do not have the at3's but I've ran the coopers on my truck since new and have been very pleased with them. For a large mud tire they have pretty good road manners and they are wearing really well too. I put the cooper cs3 on my car and given my driving style they are holding up much better than the michelin and bf Goodrich ever thought of. My wifes 2013 Durango has 32,000 on the original Michelins. The tread is wearing well but the sidewalls at the tread edge is weather cracking A LOT. So bad that I will have to replace them very soon. It will be getting coopers as well.

I'm stuck on 3ply sidewall Toyos. The last 2-ply sidewall tire I had caused a $3300 repair bill after complete tread separation preceded by flats and tread cuts.
That being said, the new Nitto Ridge Grapplers might be next.

The Cooper's have been performing great around here, local diesel specialists prefers Cooper from work trucks to rock crawlers. I started using them a few years ago on my trucks and haven't wanted to try anything else, I was using BFG's mostly before. I like the Discovery AT for the M&S traction. Its more of a winter tire though. For a budget tire the slightly cheaper Mastercraft LTR holds up good, slightly less tread depth, handles pavement well when loaded heavy. Nice USA made tires, I've had zero failures with them. Tread wears till smooth, My Michelin LTX's are chunked and cracked worse than my Cooper Discovery AT's after 10 years. The Michelins crack and fall apart twice as fast around 5 years, go figure. $207 for LTX or $130 or so for the Coopers. I rather have the Discoverys.

I got my Ram this morn and i'm happy so far, Hardly any tire noise, A little bit of squirm but its ok.
They look better then the smallish 265-70-17s that where on my Ram. These are 285-70-17

They fit the 'wheel well' better then stock size, I paid $222 @ tire all done.

The 2007.5 that I just bought only has 27,100 on it. It has the original BF Goodrich on it. I am leaning toward putting the Cooper A/T3's on it. And also going from the 265's to the 285's. Have you noticed any change in your speedometer?

Ron

27000 miles! Thats low!
I made a speedo adjustment with my Smarty Touch before i drove the truck so yes it makes a diff but i'm not sure how much. I set tire od at 32.5'' and this matches GPS mph.

I would NOT run Coopers if they were free. I had a 2 year old cooper fail catastrophically at 80MPH and cooper tires failed to stand behind their product. No road hazard, just heat and 80MPH. The tire was at 32psi on the front of a 1990 Jag.
The tread separated and gave about 5 seconds notice before Ka BOOM. When I contacted cooper about a recall they announced for this model tire in two smaller sizes, they just laughed and told me to pound sand, luck of the draw.
BFG All Terrain KO tires are my brand of choice, great traction and mileage. 315X75X16 on my 2001.5
