Bought Class 8 need Houston mechanic

I have tried copying/moving the content of a couple of DVDs to my laptop hard drive for use when travelling (not keen on taking along the DVD). One has worked OK, the others have encountered errors. Do any of you know about copy protections, etc. that might preclude doing this?

These are copyrighted, legally purchased DVDs, not pirated or down loaded.

Try 'dvdshrink'. I haven't had any problems getting movies on to my laptop and its an old one. DVDShrink can be found here.

It a piece of cake to use as well.

The files that didn't work had trouble because they were encrypted. Almost all DVD's are. DVDShrink works well, another option is DVD Decrypter

They both work well, but DVD decrypter is a little more specialized for ripping movies.

a last night's project was a stunning success. The DVD Decrypter did the trick and now when "work sucks" I can tune in on a flick. BTW, WinDVD can play the decrypted DVD from any file or folder BUT the data has to be in a file or folder entitled "VIDEO_TS".

thanks again for the knowledge transfer. and now for a USB connected hard drive to store all the tunes and flicks... ... ... ... ...

hey, another project !!!
