OK Folks,

Here's a question out of left field for the canine experts. My daughter is pining away for a Corgi but I have never been around them or know much about them. Are they actually a decent variety of dog to have? We have a good-natured mutt right now, don't want to get some inbred psycho dog that will have lots of problems.

Our dog is a Corgi (sp) mix. She is a very good dog, never barks but is very protective of the kids. She has never bit at anyone but she goes ballistic when another dog comes down the street. She also has some chow in her (blask mouth and tounge). Not sure where the bloodlines crossed  . We got her at about 16 months (so says the vet).

Overall a good dog, very playful. Just have to watch her around other dogs. She is about 2 yrs old now.

Good luck. Jim

I don't have one but a few years ago I knew someone who had 2 of them and they were great with their kids. They were quite good. If I recall they are actually working dogs. Herders I think for sheep. They nip at the heels of the sheep (do sheep have heels) at least that is what I was told by the owners.

The Ex GF's dad had 2, one ran away, both tri-color. . Awesome dogs, Poor Zippo, the one still around, got his face kicked by a horse and lost an eye, but still gets around, and is an awesome dog for working cows. Overall, I would get one if I did not already have a Red Heeler, and a Blue Heeler. I think you will be happy.

My sister has a Corgi. She's a horse trainer, and she says they are excellent horse dogs. Many people at her barn have them.

They are all well behaved (even around the big animals) and great with kids (the small animals).

I love this dog and would love to have my own.

I don't think you could go wrong with one of these dogs (and I'm a cat-person).
