What is the correct fill level for the front and rear axles. Is it to the bottom of the fill plug? Service manual states 1/2" below fill plug on Dana 60 and 3/4" below fill plug for Dana 80. I thought I remember while reading about the MagHytec differential covers something about the fill hole on the factory Dana 80's not located properly and the proper fill level was to the bottom of the fill plug and not 3/4" below. Is this correct or am I incorrect?

Looking at 96 service manual no mention of using fill hole as measuring gear lube quanity.
I take it you 4x4 since your asking about 60 and 80 Dana.
Dana 60 7. 6 pts or 3. 6L.
Dana 80 10. 1 pts. or 4. 8L. This cuold be for 3500 only.
Dana 70 7. 8 pts or 3. 6L.
Should be able to tell when drained out if 8 or 10 pints came out.
Looking at the sevice manual if you have limited slip rear, friction modifier would be added in additon to gear lube.
Quanties in 96 manual have typo,in one section it states 60/70/80(2x2). 4 pts 60/70/80 (4x4) 0. 4 pts. 80 (4x4) 0. 6 pts.
Other section uses oz. 6 of these for all except 4x4 80. Dana 80 4x4 uses 10 oz.
I have to rember oz. to pts conversions and caculate to see if they come out the same.
Hopes this answer your questions.
