OK guys and gals, first time post and it was a long road here. A very long road, read on.
12 years ago a close friend of mine and myself were both in need of new tow vehicles for our RVs. My friend took a leap of faith and bought a Dodge 250 with the then "new"(read untried)Cummins with a 5 speed manual. I,on the other hand followed a more conservitive course and bought a GMC duelly with the 6. 2 Detroit and 3 speed auto. I have never stopped regretting it since. (I also have never been able to keep up with him since). Over the years our RVs have gotten bigger and bigger and each time the 6. 2 would protest just a little bit more. This past fall we took delivery of a new 33ft Holiday Rambler 5th and headed out for a long weekend in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. On a secondary road not far from our destination we hit a 3 mile grade that had that truck down on it's knees. I swore we were going to start rolling backwards before we reached the top. We finally crested the grade with every bell and whistle on the dash going off. My wife turned to me and said "I think we need a new truck. " I quickly agreed. ( Hey, I'm no fool. When your wife thinks you need a new truck, run, don't walk to your nearest friendly Dodge dealer.
Orderd mine a couple of weeks ago. Got a garage full of goodies for it already too. Can't wait to tackle that grade this year. Heck, I may drop the wife off up at the top and go back down and do it again just for fun.
