2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Corrosion Warranty

Trying to see if it’s even worth trying to warranty some rust before my time is up. Both doors along the bottom are starting to rust. There are no holes yet but there will be. It’s starting to look like a Chevy. Trucks got 96k and it’s an 02. Do I even bother trying or is it just a waste of time??

I thought our trucks had a 7-year rust warranty - but too, I think that applies to completely rusted thru, rather than surface rust. Dunno what coverage is there...

Gary... . did you at one time have a thread on your method of rustproofing/ prevetion of the doors? It seemed to be an easy and cheap preventative measure and am wondering if I should do it to my '05.

I had a '99 that I brought to the dealer and I believe it was a 5 year 100,000mile warranty but I may be wrong... anyways I had them check the bubbling on my door (drivers side only) and they ended up replacing the whole door.

The one catch I was told by the autobody guy (contracted out) was that they don't do "color matching". Basically they won't pay to match for fade. In my truck it was no problem because it was black but he told me red trucks can be pretty noticable, so please keep that in mind.

Other than that why would you hesitate to have them repair it for free? Down the road you will regret it whether you keep it or were trying to sell it. . because it's only going to get worse and get worse real fast... .

I took mine in too with 93K on the clock. After paying $98 for them to diagnose that it was rust they told me no. I was the SECOND owner of the truck and thats why they wouldnt cover it. :-{}

wow, I was second owner and that was never even an issue. The truck wasn't even bought from that dealship either. I gotta believe they were wrong in what they told you... try somewhere else if you can.
