New Batteries Installed

We recently sold our boat and are considering hauling it to the new owner. The boat and trailer weigh approximately 12,000 lbs and we average 10-11 mpg on the road hauling the boat. Our truck is a 2001 HO with a six speed standard. I want to set a fair price to cover my cost including wear and tear on our truck and would like some feedback as to a price per mile. The mileage for the trip is 350-400 one way. Thanks Tom

replied to your other thread, but did the math at 300 miles
I get $1. 50 - $2. 00 per mile one way for hauls.

I wouldn't do it for less than $700-$800.

I wouldn't worry about the "commercial" issue. Technically, yes, it makes you commercial, but as of now, it's still titled to you, right?

I recently offered to tow a 30' bumper pull toy hauler from Barstow, Ca. to Anchorage, Alaska (aprox. 4000 miles) for the cost of my fuel which was going to be approx. $1500. He turned me down as being too expensive. I wished him good luck.

It cost me ~. 80 cents to move my truck 1 mile. That does not include my time or anything else. It pays for the truck only !!

If you are doing it to help with the sale of your boat, which would be a wise decision these days, figure in a hotel and . 80 - $1. 00 per mile and that should cover your costs.

Hope this helps,

David
