Does the B2 for a bottom really out perform an HT3B? Does it flow more, spool faster, move more air, more durable?

What are the benefits to fabing up your own set vs. an everything you need set? Other than cost.

Thats impressive Scott to build your own. You have a set that has an additional pride factor built in that can't be found with a kit. Two thumbs up!

I am just bs'ing on the maga cab thing... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . not the twins though...

hey I can't believe you like Latte's can't even get Brandon to taste one. Drives me crazy gotta be better than copenhagen..... Of course we can't afford to both have that latte habit either... They are around 4 bucks down here. Maybe cheaper up the hill. . huh???

It's all about pride Matt. I didn't need twins, I just wanted to build them. The truck ran nicely with a single but to be honest, it run's better with the twins :D

Benifits to making your own... . cost and as Matt mentioned pride. You can buy a set that is very functional and look great. They'll perform as well as anything the average guy can build, probably better. If you've got the money buy a set, I prefer to build my own stuff if possible.

The biggest diffrence is in spool. Flow is similar as is dependability. Personally I wouldn't use a 3B, they're old technology. Cummins replaced them with the HT and HX 60's fifteen years ago. They're prooven, cheap, and common so everyone uses them but there are better options IMO. I opted for the S400 because it has a CW rotation and I thought that would make the fabbing easier. Initially I was going to use a HT60 but got scared by the CCW rotation and didn't think I could get the piping to fit. Knowing what I know now it may have been easier

So then how do you think a B1/B2 twin set-up would compare to an HX40/HT3B set-up? Would a B1 flow and spool better than the HX40?

Good question. I've never tried any of them but from what I've heard/read the B1's spool slower than a HX40 while a B2 will come on faster than a 3B. I suspect in the end the diffrence would be minimal.

I'm just tryin to differ between the PDR street twins and PBP's B1/B2 twins. Maybe runnin a B1-2 as a top might help with spool?

I was reading that with twins you loose the heat exchanger for the auto. So does it need to be moved, or removed and replaced with something aftermarket?

Where do you get the appropriate pipe to fab a set of twins? Flanges, clamps etc?

Also does the bottom turbo control "total boost" primarily and the top turbo control "low end boost" / spool-up time, or is it a subtle combination of the two?

Oh yeah there has been enough info in this thread to justify some latte posts, but what about the finest of post 12:00pm drinks THE BEER? :D

Use exhaust pipe and elbows for the steel piping. Silicone hoses and clamps can be found at hightempsilicone.com. Flanges... . ? I had to make one on the lathe but it depends on the turbo(s) you're using.

One of the small S300's with the small compressor and a . 70 or . 80 exhaust housing spools very well and supplys plenty of air to compliment the B2. So does a 35/40 hybrid.

A B1ks (old school quick spool B1) and a B2 spools considerably faster then a 40/3b combo. A 40/B2 is faster then a 40/3b as well. I done built all of them ;)

PBP will have a new set of twins hopefully soon. . HTT sp66 and Big Brother. . We'll see how it works hopefully soon, and post some pictures. .

Sounds like a slow spool special. I know of another set with a SP66 up top and it's laggish.

This past weekend we installed a set of PDR Towing twins on my 97 2500 5 speed. The truck is runnings a set of EDM 110 hp injectors,#10 plate,3k gsk, and the twins. Instead of the 14 housing I wanted to move the spooling down as low as I could for towing so we used a 12cm housing instead. The install went without a hitch and was completed in 1 day with the help of 3 other guys.

Did all the parts fit. . yup. . was the kit complete so that you didnt have to run down to the store. . yup. . did I get what I wanted... :--) :--) :--) Oo. Oo. Oo.   . .

The only thing that I regret about this... is that I wish that I had done it sooner. The PDR setup is top notch and works!!!!!!

I was all smiles as I drove to work on Monday... just watching the pyro. Cruising (62 mph) egts dropped 100*.
