Arctic twins is interesting. Definitly something to consider for the money. I wonder what all comes in the kit? I'm guessing it doesn't come with an ATS manifold like the PDR twins do but I could be wrong... .

They may not come with the ATS manifold but I dont remember it ever being proven to help out at all. It sounds to me like it is a beefier replacement to stock to prevent cracking. Could be wrong though.

My point is the kits from Piers (just using them as an example) are a COMPLEETE kit. Everything you need right down to the nuts and bolts. I have to wonder if some of the cheaper priced "kits" are in fact that compleete. Having built a set of twins and purchased everything you need to do so I know what it costs to put a kit like this together.

the 3 piece manifold is so they can put the middle section on upside down to make room for the turbos hanging off it. its not a matter of performance as it is just needed for the room.

i had mine extrude honed prior to using it.

Is that a 3rd gen thing? 2nd gens can flip thier stocker.

This past weekend we installed a set of PDR Towing twins on my 97 2500 5 speed. The truck is runnings a set of EDM 110 hp injectors,#10 plate,3k gsk, and the twins. Instead of the 14 housing I wanted to move the spooling down as low as I could for towing so we used a 12cm housing instead. The install went without a hitch and was completed in 1 day with the help of 3 other guys.

Did all the parts fit. . yup. . was the kit complete so that you didnt have to run down to the store. . yup. . did I get what I wanted... :--) :--) :--) Oo. Oo. Oo.   . .

The only thing that I regret about this... is that I wish that I had done it sooner. The PDR setup is top notch and works!!!!!!

I was all smiles as I drove to work on Monday... just watching the pyro. Cruising (62 mph) egts dropped 100*.

RHARVEY,

I was wondering what turbo you used prior from the PDR towing twins. How is the spool up in the lower RPM's compared to the old set-up? Any noticeable performance gain (seat of the pants)? Stud and or oring?

thanks John L

John,

I used my PDR HX35 turbo and instead of using the 14cm housing I used a 12cm housing gated at 24lbs of boost. I tow a 31' travel trailer and I wanted to light them off as early as I can. It actually feels like to spools faster than the single turbo.

I can hear the big turbo start singing at about 8-10 lbs of boost. The throttle response with my setup is absolutely crazy fast. What does the SOP say..... :--) :--) :--) ... The power is soooooooooooooooo smooth up thru the rpm range. I have seen 100* drop in egts cruising at 62 mph @1800 rpms running empty. Currently the truck is running a #10 plate,3k gsk and 110hp EDM injectors with timing set at 16*.

Here is a little extra... at 70 mph on cruise I see 75* drop in egts. I cross over one overpass on the way to work running 70 mph. . the pyro use to jump to 850* with the single turbo. . now that I have the twins. . it will not go over 625*.

When Piers and I were talking a few months back about my setup and what I wanted to do with this truck. . this is the combination that he suggested.

The head studs will be here today or tomorrow but currently the head has never been off of the truck(239k and no O ring) This twin setup is set to blow off at 50lbs... Do I run the truck that hard... nope! Since the system has went on the truck I did see about 40lbs of boost and the pyro went to 900* and stopped dead in its tracks...

Was it worth the $$$$$,time, effort, busted knuckles to run this PDR Towing Twins. . YES. . Would I go thru it again... as fast as I could call them up!

You guys always remember you get what you pay for. Anybody really want to know what a DGZ/B2 setup will do, It's amazing. Spools like a 35 and delivers over 600 dyno proven rwhp. Want power?? Call Olee Poole or visit powerbypoole.com. The b2 is about the biggest bottom charger that can run on a 24 valve. I guarantee that SP66 and the BIG BRO will be one more crazy setup.

Am I blind?

I don't see any contact info on "Arctic Twins" web-site/link (phone/fax/ordering link)

I already have a 2 pc ATS, so if it comes with it, I may not need additional cost.

Certainly sounds interesting, and while pulling my 40' Teton, my EGT's can climb real quick. The clutch/transmission is okay. Fuel supply may be another matter. I already killed the stock LP, so in-tank was done.

Gotta mat it in 5th to keep the temps manageable above 2200 RPM's.

Help????

Twins

If you are considering twins, also consider the fact that you will be getting into multiple upgrades for your rig. I. E. A new intercooler (stock has plastic ends and could blow under increased boost) A cam that will enable your twins to work at optimum levels, injectors to supply the much needed extra fuel. Did I mention a HP fuel supply, studding and fire ringing the head, and a timing and fuel box to assist it all! This is not a project for the faint of heart. Had I known what I was to encounter I may have changed my mind. As far as spool up I have head much more useable spool when towing (40' Horse Trailer 28K Last Load) than when stock. And as far as fuel economy 12. 5 to 13 mpg loaded. EGT's are much cooler. Scheid Diesel provided my kit and I explained to them my needs. I have not been disappointed. Now as far as putting this power to the ground have we talked about transmission upgrades yet???????
