If you're a Costco Member, check your mail. In this month's coupon book, there is a $15 off coupon per case of Cheron Delo 400LE; limit 5 cases. Coupon valid Nov 17 - Dec 7. I'll be in line early on the 17th!

You can use it in yr 12 valve, Just change it out at 3k or get it analyzed then. .

Anyone who needs this coupon, I have one and do not use the Dello LE, so I will mail my coupon free of charge to the first address I get in my pm box.

Cheers,

Bill

This sounds great, but is LE the best way to go on 3rd gen engines? With one coupon you can get up to 5 purchases at 6 gal each. I still have 3 more years of free oil changes at the dealer. At 2 changes per 6 gal carton, this oil will last me for the next 8 years. Will it keep that long?

Oil has a long shelf life..... we buy a barrel of oil and use it over an 18 month period... . with no problems... .

Go to your membership desk at Costco, they will give you an extra book every time you walk in the door... . we often stock up on those items that your only allowed one of... . we just get a new book with each visit and purchase another one... .

Shelf Life of Oil

I researched this issue extensively as I wanted to stock up on CI-4 Plus Oil before it was no longer available.

Most manufactures data seemed to indicate that oil could be shelved for 5 years with no adverse affects... The only issue is that the additives in the package "settled" at different rates...

There didn't seem to be a concern as the oil would be mixed as soon as it is circulated.

On that info, I stocked up on 5 years worth of oil changes of the Group 3 Rotella 5W40 syn oil...

Cheers,

Bill

I used it today. Boy was I surprised when the regular price for 6 gallons was $66! So $51 with coupon. When does motor oil start dropping now that crude is dropping? What was it two years ago? About $29 for 6 gallons.

My thoughts exactly! When does it start dropping?

And thanks for the heads up on this!

Wouldn't that be $51 for 6 gallons?

Here in So Cal it's actually $61. 99 before the coupon, so about $52 plus tax. I was going to buy 5 cases but started thinking that spending around $280 around the holidays and with a SLOW economy in the future, I'll just follow the easy-squeezy plan and buy 3 gallons at a time when I need them. Just my $. 02.

$61. 99 minus $15 is $46. 99.

I bought mine yesterday. But, I think oil prices are going to drop and Costco has a bunch of oil they acquired at the higher prices and will have to sell at a loss if they don't clear out a lot with the coupon deal. The coupon deal won't make them much money depending on the mark up on oil, but it will move a lot of inventory quickly and then they can regroup with oil purchased on a reduced cost market. That's just my theory. And, you never know about Costco, maybe they are not going to carry Delo any longer and want to eliminate their inventory.

It's back!

It's going for $65. 99- $15. 00 at mine. Costco must have a bunch of it,because they stopped carrying it at my Costco. It's back now. We had to drive seven miles to another one to get it. I still have ten gallons of the Delo CI-4+ in the garage.

When is a bargain NOT a bargain ??

You should be using CI in your '06, *NOT* Delo LE (which is CJ) . . .

if you can help it.

(For owners of Jan '07s and later -(with DPFs)- it's a great deal)

For those that asked about which oil to use go back to the oil studies

in the TDR mags.

You will find the same info (CI vs CJ) on the oil forums:

Simply stated, unless your engine requires CJ, use CI oil.

YES Margaret, there *IS* a difference!

BTW - Oil analysis (of CJ) doesn't "replace" the additives that have been removed from the CI !!
