I have had two sets of Costco tires Yokohama's 285 75 16 load range E and bfg AT 245 75 16 load range E. Both set are round as a brick. Balanced multiple times and bought two new wheels.

I was told by another tire shop that the costco tires are blems. What is the story with costco tires?

I have had good luck with costco tires over the years, but have only purchased Michelins.

Ditto what elite said. I have purchased 4 sets of tires from Costco over the years no problems but all were Michelins.

I just took off a set of the Kirklands that I ran for over 60k without a problem... They still had maybe another 10k left. I just fell into a deal for a set of the 2001 alloy wheels with set of the Michelins on them. The tires have 9000 miles on them. Got the set for $500. What you think?????

Disclaimer... I'm a retired Costco Mgr.

Not only no but HELL no ...

Nothing Costco carries is seconds or blem in any part of the building...company believes it's integrity is more important than to carry seconds / blems ... a buyer would be fired for even bringing up the conversation of seconds for any product.

ooops. . hit reply instead of edit

not only that but they have 100% customer satisfaction policy... if for any reason you are not satisfied take it back... ..... period

and something else... if you ever have a problem at the refund area ask to see the store manager [not a assistant but the mgr. ]. .

explain the issue and ask for the 100% customer satisfaction policy refund... . [you see there are some employees in every business that for some reason get an attitude and that needs to be known by the mgr. also]... or e-mail customer service at the Costco.com and let them know what happened as well as what location it occured... that gets read by EVERYONE in the co. and the Co CEO Jim Sinegal

Tires from Costco

I'm working on my 4th set of Michelin's purchased from Costco. This last set was for the wifes Escort and it replaced a set of the same Michelin's that for some reason wore out at 30,000 (60k tires) and the Costco employee handled the pro-rating with no questions asked. He even gave the wife 1/2 credit for a tire that was non-repairable that got left at Les Schwab's by accident.

That to me is customer service and it's not their fault the tire wore out before the 60k.

Yes I will buy more tires from Costco

Big Costco Fan

Though I haven't bought any tires, I will say that having dealt with several issues with Costco, each time I have been COMPLETELY satisfied with their customer service as well as "attitude" of all employees. If you've got tire problems, get to the regional office (thats the power center) you WILL get results.

BIG difference from the other warehouse club that I (s)am a member of - where employees "just don't get it", that is, when you can find them. Tried to special order a 6V battery there and was frustrated by all employees at all 3 area clubs -they didn't even know how to order a battery - believe me, when I got to management in AR, the s*** hit the fan, and I got my battery, but at that point, it was about my ego, not the battery.

Hey Rick! Nice deal!

Yer wheels & tires look great on the truck.

Did you have to reduce the diameter of the rear drums to do dat? Curious minds (however small) wanna know! :D

I had to trim about 1/8" off my drums.

I bought a set of Michelins for the wifes Mazda at Costco.

The tires were cheap to begin with, then I was given a coupon for $7. 50 off each tire!!

It turned out to be something like $58. 00 a tire with tax. This is a "top of the line" 90K miles rated tire. I'm happy. :D

I got my Michelins at Sears. They special ordered them for me, and it took almost 3 months to get them. All along they told me that they'd "take care of me". I got them for $500. 00 for the set, mounted balanced and out the door. I'm happy. :D

I have been a Costco member since 1987,and have bought all of

our tire's from Costco since then and never had a problem ever!2 pickups

3 cars, next set will not be Michelins or any other French tire oh

by the way they fixed my flat tires trough the years at no charge!!

I forgot all about Michelins being a French brand! I have has such good luck with them over the years vs. american made tires. Then again we are driving German Trucks, Chrysler is owned by Mercedes, right?... Many built in Mexico... At least the Cummins is American... hmmmm, what are some other good tires for our trucks ?

Michelin's at Costco

Have experience with 6 sets of Michelin LTX tires on previous &

existing vehicles. Place of purchase was a mix of Costco & Discount Tire. Never less than 70,000 miles regardless of place

of purchase. However the set that came with the 2000 CTD

looks to blemish that record. I bought the truck with 23,000

miles and the fronts will be lucky to make it to 50,000.

I don't know the rotation history of the vehicle and am reluctant

to rotate them to the rear as I've heard that the rears wear faster?

Lots of tire experience here.

I've had great service with Costco.

I've had good service with Sam's Club, BUT I think Sam's is only great when a Costco is close by to set the bar for customer service.

I've had great service with many Sears auto stores.

I've had great service with Firestone Centers.

I've had poor service with Goodyear Tire Stores.

i've had poor service from Discount Tires.

I've had VERY poor service with Les Schwab Tired Stores and will NEVER shop nor recommend anyone to their stores.

My super shopper wife will backup any claim by willyslover on Costco. Never had anything but a great experience from them and they have a LOT of my consumer dollars.

One thing to keep in mind, even though Michelin is a French company and ends up with the profits from tire sales here, the tires are actually 'Made in the USA' (also applies to Goodrich). Not buying the brand probably hurts American workers more than Michelin.

Doesn't matter where you bought the tires they are still Yokohama's and will effect Yokohama's reputation.

I used to hear the same things about Sony and WalMart. "You should not buy Sony from WalMart because they are seconds". It is Sony's reputation on the line, not WalMart's.

Sometime when you pay more for a product, you just pay more.

Personally, when I have a problem with a product, I blame the manufacturer, not the merchant. How the merchant handles my problem is another story.

WatsonJ,

I have found that the rate of wear on the rear tires is directly proportional to the amount of bombing you do to the engine!:D I think that has more to do with the rears wearing faster than any thing else.
