This afternoon when I tried to shut my truck down it would say "not in park" and would not shutdown! I put it back it gear and then back into park and same thing. Third time it worked and shutdown. Most likely I have a sticky or improperly adjusted switch/contact somewhere. Worked okay at three more stops and I'm hoping the gremlin went away.

Anyone know what alternative you have to get it shut down if this occurs again? Obviously if this keeps happening I will take it into the dealer. But meanwhile I am looking for a work around to get it to shut down if multiple attempts don't get it done?

Mine doesn't always start first push. I've tried brake peddle soft and push the start button, I've tried brake peddle hard then push the start button, I've tried holding my tongue to the left while sitting on one cheek.....sometimes it just won't start first push.
Never happens at the service shop.

Used to be years ago that you could turn it off, but couldn't get the key out if it didn't recognize it was in park. I guess now with the keyless fobs it's different

I know you have been trying to install some optional electrical items. Have you tapped into any of the electrical stuff yet? The new cars and trucks do not take kindly to stray wiring into the OEM systems.

No kidding! A tow truck driver acquaintance of mine with a Ram 5500 Tow Truck says not to use your truck's batteries to jump start another vehicle. He says it goofs up the electronics. He says if you have no other choice, use the battery on the drivers side, but avoid using the battery on the passenger side at all costs.

Although nobody does it, you should TURN OFF the donor vehicle before trying to start the dead vehicle. The batteries should handle it.

I haven't done it yet. Holidays and travel have taken my priorities. Still intend to put some backup/work lights on it.
