Came in off the carrier Friday afternoon, went and did an inspection and test drive this morning. Still has the shipping plastic on it! :D Delivery will likely be Tuesday morning.

You never know what to expect on a test drive, but goin from a nearly 9-year-old 12-valve rated at 180/420 to a factory fresh 325/610 was too much fun. And oh, do I love the new brakes!

So allow me to introduce Molli, The Devil With The Blue Dress On:

I remember when your 96 was near new and we conversed on oher forums. Just remember that Rams are male sheep :D
Yup, seems like yesterday, Joe... I remember pulling out of the dealer lot with the 96 thinking "how cool is THIS?"

I'll tell ya, what doesn't hurt is the fact that both trucks were ordered from the same dealer (Bergen County Dodge, Ramsey NJ), by the same salesman (Joe's been there 10 years), and the same master tech is already looking forward to servicing it (Roger has a Cummins himself, and he always crosschecked problems between our trucks). A pleasure to work with.

Kinda of fond of dually 4X's my self. I know how you feel when compared to a second genner. They are truly light years away!!!!!!

Mac

Hopefully if this board is still around in 10 years I will be hearing you say, I wish I still have that old 12V, that new one didnt stand the test of time nearly as good as mr. 12v..... ;-)

Congrads though

New Truck

KCJackson,

Congrats on the new ride. Very sharp.

Now the big question, will you be able to stop driving the 12'er.....

Took delivery today at 11:45am, and haven't wiped the smile off my face yet. The 96 12er punched her ticket at 8 years/9 months/12 days and 126,934 miles. Was a great truck, longest I've ever owned any vehicle, and enjoyed every mile.

Couple thiings I'll have to get used to:

- the dark tint glass (the 96 Club was all normal glass)

- settling my hands on the new steering wheel in a good spot

- the smaller front door

Couple things I already love:

- Brakes that do the job,, and do it WELL

- the faster steering ratio

- the new trailer tow mirrors

- the 80% increase in horsepower and 45% increase in torque (even though the truck has gained 1000 pounds)

And the thing that never changes:

- the whine of a Holset

This weekend, I'll put together a full driving impression, so stay tuned...

I agree, JHardwick..... Gotta love it when a select few of those 1st GEN & 2nd GEN guys go outta their way to travel to the 3rd GEN forums and attempt to influence everyone with their expert knowledge.

By the way, anyone have that link or page number handy from that one issue of TDR stating how the HPCR has fewer problems than the 12V's ?
