Countys in Texas that smog diesels?

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Cummins and TDR just Gotta love it!

Who has the oldest Dodge Diesel????

Countys in Texas that smog diesels around Dallas???

Are there any countys that have a manditory smog requirement. Was thinking of moving out there and did not want to end up living where I would have to smog my trucks. Also if you know af countys that don't have smog requirements that info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Polk County, which is the home of Escapees and 60 miles north of Houston, does not smog diesels hawever the have an annual saftey inspection. As of two years ago El Paso does not smog check.

Don't worry about smog testing. My truck smokes like a freight train and passes every time without adjustments. Worry about the $29 they take from your wallet every year.

Not in Tarrant

Living in the DFW metroplex, we are under the most stringent emissions controls for the state (emissions testing, reformulated gasoline, lowered speed limits... ) and I only have to pay for a safety inspection for my CTD. It depends on where you are wanting to move to, but there are many counties in TX that don't do the emissions testing on gassers either.

I don't believe any county smog tests diesels. Only a few counties test gassers, mostly in the more populated areas though

In non-attainment areas such as Harris County and adjoining counties (the Houston metro area), OBDII gassers are only checked for MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) illumination and the presence of any DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) through the OBDII port under the dashboard. Non-OBDII gassers less than 25 years old are run through a cycle on the chassis dyno with a tailpipe sniffer. Diesel vehicles are not checked for emissions.

Hey Todd, what are your typical opacity readings from emissions test?

Oh but as soon as they get us all on ULSD they will be sniffing diesels . The word is ULSD will be coming in Sept. 06 to the non attainment areas (Houston , Dallas and the other areas)so be prepared for the future .

Just waite till Sept of 06 , you see , well the EPA has move the date up till Nov. (if I remember what I read a few days ago) . A few of the cities and counties goverments are useing it and the State as well . The State has been on it (in the Houston area) for about two years now and there has been no problems with it yet but it is being truck in and not from any of the plants around here from what I have been told . Its a WHOOOOOLE lot better than that trashy Purinox that they had us useing before we got on ULSD.
