I'll get to the point:

I thought the VA C3. 1 would be the best stack with the TST because it tapers off on the high end and I thought that would let rail build better PSI, etc (as opposed to the EZ which uses PSI all the way through the RPM band)

Well, the dyno shows differently...

VA/TST - max of 476 hp (I tried both levels)

EZ(lvl2)/TST - max of 524 hp

The graphs look the same until about 50mph, the VA graph starts to fall off, the EZ graph just keeps climbing

Anyway, not to dog on the VA, it felt AWESOME on the street, really awesome down low... But when the chips are down, the tapper'ed top end gives up HP...

As for the NITTO review... because of the "d" rating, I will not be purchasing them again. I can feel them squirm under the truck in crazy heavy turns, and in heavy acceleration...

Its nothing too bad, But it is certainly not there when I put the stock tires back on...

Thanks for the review..... I was seriously considering the nittos but prolly will not go that route... . I guess E rated tires are the proper way to go. BFG'S for me I guess.

I dont think the BFG's from a hummer at "E" either

What tire are you looking at?

BTW - nittos in the same size but on a 16 rim are "E" rated, weird

Are you still running stock wheels? If so they will deffinitetly squirm the stock rim

is too narrow. I think you need a 8" wide wheel at minimum and a 9" would be perfect.

Per Nitto's Site!

You know I just looked at several places and can't find an E rated bfg all terrain. Maybe some 285 toyo at's? I would really like to go bigger than that cause of my 4:10 rear. All I know is that my michelin stockers are not cuttin it on the forest roads I have been crusin this hunting season. This morning they were snow covered and slightly icy and even in 4x4 I was spinning in places.

I have the stock 8" rim... But I would not think that would in it self cause the squirm... hmmm, wierd

It's not the rim, its a cheap tire. I ran 285/75-16 BFG's on the wimpy 6. 5" wide rim's fitted to my Chevy. Never had a problem with the tires squirming around, and that is on mtn roads that really test a tire. I haven't had it with the D rated 285 BFG's fitted to the last three of my CTD's, even when used for regular heavy towing. I think there is the false impression out there that the E range tires are 10 ply and the D range only 8 ply. That is left over from the old bias ply days and you wont find that many plies of anything in these modern radials. My experience suggests that you are into dually territory before a 285 width D range BFG is any kind of liability for stability or durability.

The tires are actually rated close to 3,500 lbs. Their site is incorrect. I read directly from the sidewalls after purchase. They definitely have a "d" load rating though. Think I will go with the 295/70/17 Toyo MTs next time. They have an "E" load rating.
