Shocks with a Lift?

Wifes griping about the truck

Been reading on here and TST's site about the pm3 and how it can have very high egt's when towing or over level 4. I'm planning on a 2002 3500 eth/dee to replace my 99, and think I will go with a pdrhx40, 275rv injectors, 4" exhaust, propane, and either a pm3 or edge comp box. I'm hoping that with the turbo/exhaust/propane combo I have chosen, that will dramatically lower egt's.

I haven't decided about the box yet and want to hear about everyones experiences with these two. I really like the triple digital controller on the pm3:cool:, so I'm hoping that this box will work for me. (although a triple dash pod with some autometer gauges would work to):D

I'm not to familiar with the h. o's reaction to bombing from the etc, so if you guys have any suggestions throw them out here. My truck will be used for oilfield welding grossing around 12000, with the odd trip dragging a 7-8000 lb travel trailer with me to work. Hoping for 425-475 rwhp

I tried the search for this, but it requires me to write a novel in the search bar.

Thanks in advance.

First off I would strongly suggest you stay away from C3H8 use on the ETH..... or keep a head gasket handy.

Small, or stock injectors and a large performance box will have higher EGT than large injectors and a small box... ... ... . at the same power level.

The ETH seems to respond better to injectors over "Large" fueling boxes. The ETC seems to respond better to boxes than the ETH.

if you were to run DD3 injectors, a PDR HX40, and an Edge EZ, you should be close to 380 HP..... IMO anything much over that is not usefull for towing, and will get hot rather quickly. If you want the "extra HP" for playing, then get the PM... . it along with DD3's and the PDR40, you should have at least 400 HP.

I currently run DD3's and a Diablo Power Puck. This is good for 358 HP on my ETH with the stock turbo. I have towed up to 19000#'s GCVW with this combination and it works very well.

I think you already know this, but I hope you get some gauges first.

Contact Member "Mike R" he has a TST PM3 with the 10 level remote, a PDR40, and DD2's... . but these are on an ETC with the TM ECM

I would have to agree with Freak about Not using propane on an ETH. I believe the ETH has higher compression than the ETC to begin with. With the other mods you want, the head gasket wont hold up very long.

Im seeing 1300 max with my mods. I dont tow anything though.

I do believe you might want to go bigger than a 275 injector. Possibly your EGTs might get a little high towing with 275s and an EZ. Mine got alot hotter with the stock injectors.

The PM3, DD3, B-1 turbo will put you in the 430-450 range.

Got a PM3, DD3's, propane, and a PDR HX40 on my truck, but it's an ETC. The other guys are right, propane is a bad idea on the ETH, unless you can afford the $$$ to get the block o-ringed for higher compression.

I tow with mine, and have seen as much as 14,000 lbs on the trailer behind me. The regular PM3 has an excellent power curve with the Piers Hx40 turbo. You'll be able to tow on level 6,7,8 depending on your weight.

The PM3 with the triple gauge remote is THE hot setup. You can program it for maximum EGT and OIL temp so that the PM3 will AUTOMATICALLY defuel when you reach those limits. It works great! I can't say enough good things about this remote. It is definitely worth the money.

It sure makes towing in the hills easier. I'm not driving by my pyro as much.

The only problem I have had with the PM3 is the connection to the pump. I would suggest the Blue Chip pump cover to make the connections more reliable. Also, I have been told that the PM3 defueling feature doesn't work as good with large injectors. Also, unless all you do is racing and sled-pulling, don't buy the TST PM Comp. It's way too extreme. The throttle is more like a switch. Been there, done that.

Tried Big Injectors once... or twice... done that too. Don't work too well at high altitudes. Smokes like a old garbage truck. But if you want that kind of power you'll need big ones and a big turbo.

Stay away from propane (ka-boom!).

Never mind the Blue Chip cover ! TST (and I ) have available a "Grabber" that easily hooks and unhooks to the pump wire, and leaves no trace, at least none I've ever been able to see. It costs a lot less too.

I agree with Tom. i had an ETC with BD IV's/PM3 combo and it ran colder than stock under normal conditions. with 469HP on tap when you needed it.

Propane is not needed on any of the dodge trucks IMO.

the Grabber plug is great. reusable too.

my vote, Bully Dog injectors and PM3. the DD's tend to put out a little less power than BD's too. you can always turn the box down for towing.

I was aware of the eth's problems with propane, but figured that I'd get the ats torque pro 2000 and run the economy orifice, thereby not pumping in huge amounts of propane. I will rely on the injectors/pm3/turbo, for the power increase. Seeing as I must have the 6-speed, I am willing to o-ring the engine if necessary.

What would be the next injector up from the 275RV's as far as power increase is concerned and with as little smoke as possible. I want to get the most mileage I can achieve, so no super mentals or anything like that. ;) Thanks.

Davey,

The next step in injectors is a stage 1 injector, good for about 65hp in an eth. They go up from there, stage 2's, 3's, etc. If you plan on towing I would stay with a stage 2 or smaller injector on an eth truck.
