Hi:

I'm looking for a way to prevent rain going down between the cab and canopy of my truck so that I can have the window open, without rain getting in. Years ago I believe people used an inflatable tub that went around the perimeter of the window.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Brad

The inflatables did not stay in place well, and rubbed through the paint.

I had a clear plastic film applied on the paint where the rubber bootcontacted the paint on the 94. It worked fairly well but not 100% water tight.

BBeck are you from WA?

We used to call that cover a Canopy then when I moved to IA I was appalled they called them Shells.

It's so nioce to hear what I think is the correct term again!!

I have a cap from my 94 that has a rubber seal on the front and no front window. The seal interlocks with another one that is attached to the truck. It was nice for ventilation and no dirt beween 2 panes of glass. I don't recall the brand name, but the dealer said they went out of business. I did still manage to get the truck side to go with the cap when I sell it.

Yes, I live in the Seattle area. Canopy is much more appropriate than shell.

I have a removable window in the canopy that also has a slider, maybe I could remove the window and create a rubber seal that could fit in the seam between the window and trim.

When I was shopping for a canopy for my 96' I remember seeing a product on the shelf that did what your looking for. I visited quite a few places about 4yrs ago. It might've been the canopy place along I-5 in Fife North of trailer place at the curve.

I think that you are thinking place called Kanopy Kountry on the west side of I-5. Try their website at kanopy

I stopped in to see them, but shied away as I thought their prices are a little steep.

They are also called DONUTS, pretty much all of the places that sell camopies/shell DO sell them. Like what was mentioned before, you can remove both rear windows and get an upholsterer to make you something that attaches to the inside of both window areas, maybe the canopy/shell company has this available too. The donuts are used when adding a bed rail type sleeper. Like Bob was saying, you can get the clear plastic stuff to protect your paint, not a perfect seal, but better than having the paint damaged. If you have a more or less permanent canopy, one that you do not plan on removing, you can put on the plastic and them run a small bead of silicone sealant to get a better seal.
