My question is from the issue in the TDR magizine in regard to cowl cracks in the early dodges. Has the problem been solved and how did they develope. Do the newer trcks have them. Also, do you see a Allison type of auto for the next Dodge Ram in the future. Any help would be great. Joe

mouse in the dash

I have had a weird squeak coming from the dash area on my 2001 lately. I checked everything I could see under the dash and also under the hood at the firewall but couldn't find anything loose or that would cause the squeak. Also there is a sharp "snap!" from time to time that sounds like it's under the dash and can be felt through the steering wheel. This is very strange. At first (4-5 months ago) I heard it maybe once in 2 weeks, now it is daily and it's getting annoying.

Per my sources inside of DC, the allison trans was scrapped because allison could not supply enough tranmissions for the Dodges and the Chebbys as well, so Allison said sorry, we have first priority to Chebby, so Dodge lost a year and a half of developement time... ...

I had the same loud snap in my 97 Ram

After repeated atempts it finnally went away

Try tightening the upper dash cover bolts

Also my 2001 has the mouse I only hear it while going around a curve w/bumps Dealer replaced steering column but new column still does it

something about bearing interference

:(

;) If you are having some squeeks from the dash, try looking at the bezel. (The part that pulls off the front to get to the gages and such). You will notice that there are felt ringlets around the attachment points. When these get thin and worn, you will start to hear the mice. :D :D As far as the poping, I have not had that one yet.
