People in Wyoming have a great ability to express things very clearly...

A few years ago, Sierra Club and the United States Forest Service (USFS)

were presenting an alternative to Wyoming ranchers for controlling the

coyote population. It seemed that, after years of the ranchers using the

tried and true methods of shooting and/or trapping the predators, the

tree-huggers had a "more humane" solution.

What they proposed was for the animals to be captured alive, the males

castrated, then let loose again ... and the population would be

controlled.

This was ACTUALLY proposed to the Wyoming Wool and Sheep Grower's

Association by the Sierra Club and USFS. Well, all the ranchers thought

about this amazing idea for a couple of minutes.

Finally, a good old boy sitting in the back stood up, tipped his hat back

and said, "Son, I don't think you really understand the problem here.

These coyotes ain't XXXXXX' our sheep, they're eatin' em. "

Even if there's just one male coyote in the state of Wyoming left uncastrated he'll knock up all the females. Reminds me of Ted Turner trying to train the wolves on his Montana ranch not to kill cattle with a shock collar.

Hey Bull

It is true, I read it a while back and it raised alot of attention in the state, sure is amazing how some people have no touch with reality ... ... ... ... ... ..... DUHH

So here I am out one day looking for hogs to shoot and I see this critter with something hanging from his mouth. I put the binoculars on him and it's a coyote with a hog hanging from his mouth. I figure any coyote that kills hogs is okay to have around so I left him go.

Reminds me of the recent lady in Maine that wanted to use contraceptives on the deer and ban all hunting. I get tickled every time I think about how one would accomplish that amazing feat... Here Mr. Deer, I'm just going to give you this piece of latex and you can go have all the mating fun you want... :)

It's sort of true. They did experiments in Montana with birth control chemicals in salt licks. Worked good except that the hormones had unwanted side effects on male deer and other animals. They have developed a birth control chemical that lasts a year that can be injected with a dart but then the problem is finding enough to shoot to make it worthwhile. Even with doe hunting the deer population sometimes gets out of hand.

Castration sounds pretty cruel to me. Perhaps we could just relocate them. New York City and Washington D. C. seem pretty good places to start relocating them to. :D

We have had Coyotes here in Ct alot latley too. The biggest thing people complain about here is Canada Geese. I see or talk to at LEAST 5 people a week asking how to get geese out of there yard. They ask what kind of gun to buy to shoot them and i try and explain that its ILLEGAL to shoot geese here (Federally protected). They dont learn. These people are stupid, they buy a house on a lake, then wonder why there are Geese all over there lawn?. I have no pitty for these people. We already had one get arrested. I laughed at him when he came in.

Same with the people who buy a house next to the train tracks and then complain its noisy. They built a huge luxury development next to the tracks (And a RR Crossing) in northern NJ where i run trains through. Now everybody who bought a house there is complaining to the town about the noise and trying to get the railroad to tell us to NOT blow for the crossing. It will never happen, and i blow the horn even more on purpose now.

The tracks have been there 114 years, the houses have been there 2 years. I cant wait for us to derail a train loaded with chemicals next to them and wipe these morons off the planet. If only i were so lucky.

EMD, most of the golf courses in my area use Flight Control, heard it works great and that after the geese learn that the areas where it has been sprayed aren't any fun they avoid them with no additional sprays. It's illegal in California so it must be good.

Patriot, I am watching to see if NJ ever opens a bear season to deal with that ever growing problem.

Problem aint so much the bears, it's all the people moving west from the city. Stupid ones at that, waving bagels at bears for a photo op.

The same animal rights wackos are the ones moving to where the bears are.

I dont think you'll ever see a bear season here.

They've made it all the way to Montana. A while back a lady was mauled in Glacier NP after she smeared honey all over her face so her husband could photograph a bear licking it off.
