CP3 Pump

Anyone have 2 CP3's go out on them? I have the truck back in the dealer again and the problems point back to the CP3. (example) the set point of the fuel is 19,300 and the actual fuel pressure is only 4500psi??? :-{}

Is that set point running down the road I hope? At idle it should be 4500-5500.

Correct it is when driving down the road. The problem doesn't happen until the truck starts to warm up. When it's cold it runs fine??? #@$%!

Have you check the fuel rail for a failed valve?

Thats kind of odd having a 2nd one go bad.

nikkel, why don't you swap out nate's when he as at work. make sure you leave a wrench under the hood too.

I agree with jwilliams, sounds like overflow or pressure relief valve. Have you ever run a box?

I had a pressure box on before. Had it off along time ago. Before this problem happended.

If you had a box on it and it ran the pressure up good, it can weaken the spring on the pressure limiting valve (PLV) on the rail. There is a very easy test for it if you have the correct adapter. Way easier than changing the pump. I have a photo of it but it is 116meg so I can't post it.
