ok i had a crank postion sensor failure i replaced the sensor with a new one from dodge at $171 after taxes since the parts stores could only get the 24v sensor for some reason after two weeks in the truck the tach starts goin nuts again and i'm losin tons of oil so i check and it's loose again could the kdp comin out damage that part of the timing gear cover? i caught hell gettin the bolts out when i changed it and i'm a poor dude so i haven't got a service manual yet so help would be appreciated ah back to the topic when i pulled the bolts i could wiggle the passenger side one in it's hole alittle and i noticed the leak got way worse about the time the tach went fruity any ideas? ah also is there an easier way to get at this thing i'm not a big dude but damn it's a pain!
 
First of all we need to know what year your truck is. Next, the service manual may be the biggest money saving thing you can buy. No having one will cost you more than buying it. If the KDP lets go it usually breaks the gear case where you can't see it because of the fan mount. However, it can break things anywhere in the gear case. The KDP is cheap to prevent and expensive to fix. No money saved by putting it off. Where do you live? Maybe a local TDR member could help you.

ya know i can't believe i over looked including the year the trucks a 98 and i'm with ya on the service manual soon as i get paid it's near the top of my list for sure and the break behind the fan mount would it be hidden by the balancer kinda? fixing the kdp is high on my list of things to do i need to tear the entire front of the truck apart and pressure wash the hell out of it i just can't get it clean assembled and it's nasty because of this leak the trucks sitting right now until i get this leak fixed and my thuren track bar in and as for my location i'm right out side of copperas cove tx

thanks for the link and the info any idea on the cost and the p/n for the gear case? and i guess i need to figure something out so i don't have to work in the cold and get to it and figure out if that's the problem and god i hope it isn't!!!
