2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Cracked dash on "01" HELP!!

"yes I guess only the ones from St. Louis cracked and none of the non-union Mexican ones cracked. The union sourced and spec'ed the dash to be used also. "



Mine was built in Mexico (Quad Cab) and had the cracked dash.

So much for that theory.

Too late for me. I bit the bullet years ago and bought a replacement and installed it myself. And after-wards used a non-silicone oil based protectant with UV protection (since the factory obviously didn't add it in the resin mix for the dashboards) and put a dash-mat cover on it.

Filed a claim with Chrysler(non) customer service. They want to pay only $400 toward replacement. Replacement cost at dealer is 953 for parts and 630 for labor (dash + bezel). They tried to tell me it was the dealer that made the decision on amount. I told him they were lying as the dealer had already told me it was up to cust service on what they paid. What a joke they are. I told them they just lost a previously loyal Dodge customer. He didn't care. They have enough other suckers. I can buy the parts online for 280 for dash and 140 for bezel and fix it myself. As soon as I fix it, it will be for sale.

i will chime in here, I did the full replacement dash from genos and did the bezel cover at the same time. Very happy with the fit and finish. I painted it myself with the Chrysler paint.

Wonder how to get a class action suit going against Chrysler since them nor the National Higway Transportation Safety Association will do anything?

Ordered a cover from Dash covers plus (accuform). Came in yesterday. Looked good except UPS crushed the box and ruined the cover (flattened the ends and piece between glove box and radio(kinked over)). The box was even marked to put on top, not to put anything on it. Accuform is sending out another one today and they are filing a claim with UPS.

Received the replacement cover. It looked like they had taken the box off the shelf and handed to me. UPS did it right this time. Now for the bad part: Started to pull the bezel out to allow the cover to go behind it and it cracked in three places (bezel) and in the center a big piece broke out. I had found a Dodge dealer online that had them listed for 148. 00 so I ordered one yesterday. Received an email today saying the bezels are no longer available. I just received another email and the part number (5GK551DX9AA) has been superseded with part number 68042746AC which lists for $347 and this place sells it for $273. A lot of difference for the same part under a new part number. Dodge has screwed the customers again. Will they ever stop? I guess when they go bankrupt for good and close the doors.
