I just noticed (or rather another TDR member noticed) that I had a nice crack in the center of my exhaust manifold. It is about an inch away from where I have my pre-turbo temperature probe. My rig is a 99, 2500, with 117,00 miles. It must have happened with about 115, 00 miles on the odometer. Is this something that is happening to a lot of your trucks, and if so, what are you replacing the manifold with? Thanks for any info. I would appreciate a web site address to buy a new manifold.

ATS

ATS 3 piece manifolds is what I will be replacing my stock manifold with here in a couple of weeks. I can hook you up with my stock one, 13,000 miles new. Sam

Mine was cracked in exact same spot....

I bought my '99 from a dealer last summer. Not sure if dealer tried to pull fast one on me, but I popped the hood and noticed a nice crack in the middle of the manifold. I told the dealer that I wouldn't even talk price until they put a new manifold in... . Now that I think of it, I should have had them put in an ATS manifold instead of the Dodge manifold. Oh well, live and learn... .

Mine was cracked at 85,000. Took it to the dealer and it was replaced under the 100,000 mile warranty. Didn't have the cash for a ATS manifold.

DAWG-1, Thanks for the offer to buy your used manifold but I've decided to go with the ATS and get it performance coated. I've seen them rust pretty bad.

just saw a big crack in mine too. Is the ATS one better as far as performance is concerned or it doesnt matter... . I think mine is under warranty... ... RRR

Are any of the manifolds cracking where the hole is drilled for the thermocouple? I just installed a Westach 1/8" npt fitting. I put it exactly where the instructions said (2" from flange and 5/8" from the center seam).

Thanks

No...

The stock manifold is just a P. O. S. !

Mine was cracked before I drilled it for the EGT gauge. You might want to check your manifold bolts... . According to the mechanic that replaced my cracked manifold, he said that the crack very well could have occurred when the manifold bolts loosened up. 2 of the bolts had fallen off and were MIA!

My manifold cracked near the head side. About 2 inches from where I drilled for the Pyro. I've had the Pyro installed for a long time. It appears that once the manifold starts cracking, it continues around the manifold to the bottom side. I've had my manifold bolts almost fall out, especially the rear bottom bolt. Since it was first pointed out to me, by Piers, I've tightened them on a regular basis. I ordered a new manifold from Piers.

Have had my ATS manifold in for about 10K and no problems so far (knock on wood) ... .

I saw what was happening to these at MM01 and replaced it before it was needed. I will tell you that the stock manifold is a POS alright... . HALF the weight of the ATS:eek: I was suprised, it had the feel of a isuzu manifold. !! I chucked it, not good enough for a spare!!

ATS, you make a good product! hats off to you!

A N-14 Cummins on my over the road truck has a manifold very similar to the ATS design, no problems in over 100's of thousands of miles!
