96 2500 4x4 camper package I've got cracks across bottom of both frame rails near the back of the cab, right where the frame takes upward bend. First one showed up last Feb. in Mexico. Had to do something so went to a weld shop and they put a 3/8x5" patch on it. I had my camper on in Mexico, gets used about 4 weeks a year, some rough roads, but not 4-wheeling. Now I have a crack on passengers side and the patch plate is starting to have crack in same place as before. I researched previse posts, found some good tips on frame repair, but one post from USSMAN said repair should not be done if cracked on top or bottom. Well... . I'm going to fix it one way or another, sure could use some good impute. Truck has 225,ooo miles, just bought 02 3500 for camper use.

if anything the frame will need to be plated to take the stress in that area. meaning a new c channel inside the frame in sections so it can be welded for strength. however! I am not sure what kind of load this will put on the rest of the frame, or how it will change crash charesterisics

Hmmm..... wonder why we haven't heard from the fellow who was grousing about the 3Gen frames... . but could never come up an example. :-laf
