Something else to watch out for folks,I had tires put on the beast today and the mech. noticed two of the rims are cracked. Both cracks are on the inside bead-extending from the bead about 3/8ths of an inch, staight in towards the middle of the rim. They looked old-nothing that had just happened, the bad thing was no marking or dings. No clues as to what caused them.

We put them on the rear and time will tell if it's a problem that grows! If anything nasty happens I'll pass it on.

Been there, done that. On my truck it manifested itself as a slow leak-once it went to a tire shop the crack was found. All 4 wheels on my truck have now cracked and been replaced-DC blames oversized rubber-I blame poor quality wheels. Seems like most of us around here using these trucks in the oilfield (read severe service) are cracking at least 1, usually more... .....

Yes they are alloys, and yes I put them back on for now at least. The tires that came off were stock size(265's)I put 285's on. We decided that the cracks were'nt new so I decided to try them and watch them? If the crack grows enough to leak then I'll have to bite the bullet for new,no warenty here.
