My 2019 Ram doesn't have a Cummins but it has the same cab. Has there been any history of windshields cracking for no apparent reason? I woke up this morning to find a long crack from the seal to the center of the windshield. No rock chips and it wasn't there yesterday when I parked it. My glass guy thinks it is a possible warranty claim, but I'm skeptical.

No warranty on glass. Must be caused by another failed component. Ask me how I know! Been down that road, twice on 2 different vehicles!
When Safelite did my 3500 do to rock chip that cracked, they replaced with a Mopar windshield.

No real surprise. I hate dealers and the warranty fiascos. I was told that USAA will only cover $736 so I'll bite the bullet for OEM if I have to.

I'm assuming you have a 3/36 that is probably expired since it is a 2019, and I want to say glass was 12/12 anyway. We used to cover a stress crack on occasion, but most of the time you could find the chip using a 10x loop when customer tried to say it was warranty.

I have $100 comp deductible with American Family. I had the dealer install an OE on my 15 at around $1,500. No problem getting a check for $1,400. Don’t accept an inferior windshield. I always require US made on my other rigs.

I had a side window explode on my 98 with no one around traveling down I-5.

In the process getting my wife's windshield replaced . I use an independent shop thats actually an approved shop by my insurance , although I can go to whomever I choose . Had a discussion with him on OE glass , he said you would never know the difference between them , OE ,and aftermarket . He said a lot of these aftermarket if you will manufacture glass for the auto makers ,and put on whatever logo or whatever is needed for the vehicle . My 2014 had a small Ram logo in the bottom of the passenger side on the windshield , thats the only difference that someone would even know if they even cared . Most likely made in Mexico along with the truck . :) My wife's car has nothing on it , but a small stick on sticker , saying UAW Ford Built With Pride . Where that windshield is made is anyones guess , US made is doubtful , along with many other parts on our vehicles .

I have had several windshields replaced over the years ,and never once gave it a thought about what an inferior windshield could be or experienced anything between an OE ,and whatever I got when they were replaced it , nor have I cared . Only OE windshield I have ever requested has been my 2014 Ram truck ,and still wondering why . I'm thinking at the time I was reading one of these windshield threads on here . :D

Some of these newer vehicles have thicker sound shield (acoustic) windshields as an option. I know the 1500 trucks have that as an order option, not sure on the HD models.

Not sure if it's a gimmick, or does it actually do something.

No idea ,and with my hearing , I'd never know . :D

:D

I love the clatter from diesels and I want more of that noise, especially when accelerating. I love the sound of the clatter and the turbo spooling.

One thing I do miss from my 5.9l is the noisier cab, as weird as that might seem.

I like nothing more than the rumble of a V8 ,and loud exhaust of years past. Unfortunately these days we don't hear them very often anymore. First thing I would do with my old trucks ,and cars would get those mufflers changed ,and different exhaust ,had to have that rumble . :D

You'd love the rumble of my 2000 Dodge Dakota with 4.7l V8 and the Flowmasters. Has that nice tone and burble without being obnoxious.

I would . Being raised in the 50’s and 60’s got to see , and listen to the hot rods , the muscle cars etc . Was fortunate enough to have owned a 59 Corvette that was pretty awesome to have , one of my regrets not keeping it .
