I can legitimately count a million miles commuting for my career in NW WA. I learned a lesson by not stating I wanted a quality screen like PPG. That import unit was trashed in no time from road sand and grime.

like all products glass has different qualities. These shops want to sell you on the cheapest to them so they make more money.

Stick to quality NOT what the shop it trying to sell you.

The shop isn't the obstacle, it is the insurance company. That is why I asked if there is a history of cracked windshields in this generation.

Which is what I'll do if need be. Still haven't got the OK or the thumbs down from them.

I've noticed that some aftermarket glass is wavy. It's cheaper for a reason. My insurance is provincially controlled (ICBC) and they set the prices so OEM is normal. Windshield installs are now complicated by the electronics glued to the glass. It's also a structural component for some vehicles.
