Competition Cracking the 53 block problem?

Sorry to get your attention but if you have a 53 you'll want to see the thread.

And the title of that thread does not say anything about the 53's.

The search for max power thread is good, but there isn't anythign being said there, that hasn't been said already somewhere else. This is what the search feature is for. I also agree that the other posts don't belong, but the moderators have choose to leave them also.

I do not wish to offend anyone here on this site, ( although any good natured ribbing-bustin' is fine for any one- as long as you can take it back when your on the recieving end!) my only intentions are for the good-

So please liten up!







I know the previous threads on that subject- and if you look back the problem is still NOT solved- and NO-ONE has an answer for WHY it is happening. IMHO (and opinions are like armpits and some of them stink- yada yada-) I have touched off onto something that HASNT been mentioned on the thread and may very well be the answer to the problem... Who knows?





And as far as the Flaming Stacks Thread not having anything to do with Competition Forum- I spied these devices at the Trucking Nationals ( i. e. - competition!!!) I feel the whole idea is to get more people interested in Diesel sports and if a little flames out of ones stacks at a National Event (i. e. competition event. ) will generate NEW interest, plus it's good FANFARE! It's the FANS of our sports that pay to get in and see us compete, Don't take things so seriously! Everything that you read on this forum is by YOUR CHOICE- that's why you can get a preview on it BEFORE you veiw!!



And there are alot of other things to grumble about instead of counting someones posts- My suggestion is to preview them first- but you never know- you may miss something that is important to YOU- in the thread- which is WHY I posted the additional post to go to another post- EXCUSE ME.

I'm not keeping any secrets here- I feel this site is for INFORMATION- Not secrets!!



Like I said I don't mean at all to offend ANYONE!



I'm just looking-searching-testing and most important ENJOYING my CTD.

That is great- Iamb glad you saw them at a diesel event- they are still an accessory, and aside from you stating you saw them at a diesel event in the post, you never said anything about generating interest (you did say shure would be cool) But they have nothing to do with actual "performamce" . I also do realize that everything I read on this forum is my choice, I'm not saying that you force me to read everything- you have however polluted this particular forum with 2 threads about posting pics of stacks. Tell me how running a stack through the bed in a really "trick" setup has anything to do with competition- It is in the wrong forum. period. I don't care if you want to start 200 threads a day about whatever your heart desires, just stick them in the right place please. I try to give my fellow TDR members the same consideration. We are very proud of our site, one thing that sets it apart is the lack of crap threads intermingled with useful ones that other sites have. So do your fellow members a favor and use a bit of restraint before you hit the "submit" button

That thread that you keep refering to about Stacks really got your craw huh? Gee some people like the stacks for looks some for the sound why not throw something out there that SOME people -Not all (-and certainly not YOU)- can appreciate and respond to... and some people ARE RESPONDING to.

And the moderators of this fine site do a fantastic job with their desisions on what gets posted where.....

And alot of people put stacks on For Competition purposes- I like to open up even more options for my dollars.

It's the fans that pay to watch us gotta think of them also!





And if I'm not mistaken there are quite a few of us that race our 53 blocks in COMPETITION, like Hoss- SBentz-myself included,and I'm sure there are many others.

So, in the interest of discussing the 53 blocks... I have heard a whole bunch of theories about this, including if the 53 block was specifically made in Brazil. Everyone I know who races runs a 53 block, myself included. Now, temps may cause cracking, but personally I have run excessive temps forever (2000+EGT), enough to kill turbos, heads, and melt a piston (badly, when I blew an intercooler last year). So far my blocks have been just fine (knocking vigorously on wood right now! lol).

Are we just talking water temps? I've also run these up very high, still with no block problems.

Anyway, I do appreciate this topic being addressed, and ain't tryin' to cause no trouble (pilgrim). Just thought I'd inject my too sense. Hoping I'm not cursing myself in the process... :-laf

i am going to try and run a pass with out water, I allready go to the line cold , and use 0-5 oil ,so i think it might work but my 53 block is cracked from front to back
