Josh,
The TSB referred to oil loss when driving down steep hills when off road. I guess the fix would raise the elbow above the crankcase so that oil would not drain out.
My take was that I would rarely be driving down such steep hills and also the fix may not prevent the oil fumes from entering the fresh air intake of the cab.
I opted for removing the breather bottle and simply placing a 3/4 inch plastic ribbed connector into the hose (secured with ring clamp) and then connecting to a piece of 3/4 inch radiator hose running straight down to the track bar of the suspension (2wd). The end of the hose is low enough to let the fumes exit under the vehicle. I cut the end of the hose at an angle to shield against the wind running under the vehicle. Of course I read about all this here at the TDR website and it sure worked well for me. Hope this helps.
