A couple years ago there was a big write up about changing your crank case sensor for about$20. or so and having your engine run hotter, by running hotter you would get about 2-4 more mpg. When you buy a Smarty jr is this doing the same thing? retarding or advancing the timing on the trucks? If not Smarty which boxes will change our timing to run hotter. They are set to run cooler for pollution reasons I understand. Anyone with insite?

Do you mean crank angle position sensor?

My TST advcances the timing on level 1 but during a long trip towing I only noticed about a . 5 mpg difference.

The TST is a "chip" so to speak. In reality its a module that interfaces with the trucks sensors and allows for multiple power level increases.

It really depends on what your doing with your truck, normally retarded timing makes more boost and use's less fuel--creating better milage, great for towing

Advanced timing drops boost and use's more fuel and makes more power at a cooler EGT, great for raceing or dyno'ing.

Though there have been different boxes/DL's that can colaborate the two ideas to give you a good DD and power box. so in otherwords the best of both worlds... :D
