Crankcase Vent

I have a 2004 305/555 engine with 3000 miles. It has just started to leave several drops of oil directly below the crankcase vent tube. Since last week, every time I park i have a 1. 5" diameter puddle below the crankcase vent tube. Prior to last week, I never had a single drop below the tube. What could cause this to change, and is this excessive for the CTD?

That is something I would keep an eye on, but nothing to panic over yet. An engine with only 3000 miles is still going to have a lot more blow-by than one that has been broken in. Do you tow with the truck? If so, that will accelerate the break-in. If it's still doing the dripping in another 5000 miles, then you might consider having it checked.



In the meantime, watch the oil level carefullly. And check to be sure it really is the breather that's losing oil and not the valve cover.
