Crankcase ventilation

When I got my filter out of the box,it had a quarter inch chip out of the drivers side plastic.Its where the lip seals to the o ring around the head.Would this be a problem.

Does it look like the sealing lip is compromised? If the answer is yes then I'd return it and ask for a replacement.
