Truck(99CTD)got hard to start when warm, got check engine light and went to Auto Zone and had codes pulled. Code came back 336 Crankshaft position sensor. Where is this located? Thanks,Scrap.

Like Claybus said, been there done that. Just be patient with trying to get the old once out. If you break it your in for a battle. Do lots of wiggling and WD-40, limit prying - wiggle, wiggle, pull, repeat, repeat, repeat - like I said be patient. Have a beer, wiggle, pull, spray, drink & repeat. This is one of those jobs you'll be happy you kept a cool head and did it slow.

Picked up a new sensor this morning and changed it out without a hitch. Thanks for the heads up about patience. The old sensor wasnt siezed in there just didnt want to slip out. Worked it back and forth by hand for about 10 minutes and it walked right out. Thanks,Scrap

You're lucky you have a '99. My '02 has it jammed up behind the VP44. I'm not sure it can come out without pulling the VP.

You are right... but the cam sensor doubles as a crankshaft position sensor. I'm not sure when they did away with the crankshaft position sensor, but on an 02 you will not find one.
