I host many websites and I now that it is not always the problem of the website you are trying to view. Their server hosting site maybe very overloaded certain times of the day. The path in which your signal travels to get to TDR maybe congested at times along the way. With all of us from 50 states trying to get to TDR-each of us may get different times of day in which is may or may not be congested. TDR is in Atlanta but their server may be in Seattle. You can ping their IP address and see what speeds you get. You can run tests to tell you which server or hubs you are using to get to their server and this will often locate bottlenecks. And it may very well be the connection to the backbone in which TDR has that is not sufficient.

I have been using my Toshiba laptop w/Windows 7 Home premium operating system. Until yesterday my browser of choice was Google Chrome, and had not experienced any of the problems or issues being voiced here.



Yesterday I opened Internet Explorer which was loaded on my laptop since new, I was tiring of all the adds popping up on chrome(websites I had visited), I exported all my favorites, changed my default browser in my email so it would print to IE instead of Google Chrome.



All was well until I came here to the TDR, what a cluster, could not arrow back if I made a mistake, had to move cursor with the mouse and click it numerous times to get it to populate. Cursor keeps disappearing, lost my response totally and had to start over, had to download ieSell for corrections, with it came whitesmoke and several other programs I did not want and had to remove. First time I posted, then went to immediatly edit my post was gone... going back to Chrome.



See what I mean...

Quite some time back, I had similar issues on a motorcycle forum I was active on - seems that security updates in Windows IE cause issues on sites running some versions of software to operate their boards - Google Chrome seems far less sensitive to those versions of software - and perhaps is also less secure?



In any event, in my case at least, the board problems here and on the other board seem far more specific to IE than Chrome, and perhaps a better degree of compatibility issues between some of the board operating systems and Microsoft is in order. For sure, Viruses, spam, and various identity theft issues are on the increase - and *I* don't want to trade security just for a more seamless board operation - NOR should board members have to MAKE that choice!

After working on my laptop all AM, trying to get everything back to normal, I finally gave up and just restored my system to an earlier date(yesterday morning). Have Chrome back as my default browser and email default browser. Everything is working again, so I am through fixing that which does not need fixed!

Don't get caught up in only using one browser. You may nned to use one for a certain site and a different browser for another site.

Adobe Reader also needs updating for similar issues. Also run your operating system and anti virus updates.



This goes for both Mac, Windows and Linux. Yes Mac gets viruses, anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool. I have seen it many times.

Key point, is that POSSIBLY, the browser that DOES work on troublesome boards, just MIGHT also be one LESS protective against viruses, and similar attacks - and let's face it, most are NOT likely to change browsers only for selected, specific boards, but will quite likely STAY on that browser while then going on to other sites - perhaps checking bank balances, and other FAR more sensitive websites...

I personally do LOTS of Internet business transactions, due to our rather isolated location, and for sure,DO want the most protective browser I can use - dunno if that is IE or not, but DOES cause concern when IE balks at some websites that Chrome lets right on thru - is it because IE is more protective than Chrome?

*I* certainly don't know for sure, but hate to risk my security, just to surf various boards...

And for sure, SOME boards simply don't play well with the latest IE (I use IE ver. 9, Windows 7), while Chrome never seems to blush, and opens the door widely - is that a plus, or minus for Chrome and some other browsers, or just an added Internet security risk...

My computer is still using IE8. I am reluctant to shift over to the "latest and greatest" software updates and usually delay as long as I can or until after the maker releases improved versions with corrections. Software developers don't have a good record for producing troublefree new editions.

I'm experiencing lots of problems with the TDR site. Yesterday everytime I wrote a post the system was unresponsive when I hit the Post Quick Reply button. I finally had to write the post in Word then cut and paste it into TDR.

Just about everything works on this set up sometimes it takes awhile to perform a task, But if I answer or write a PM the site is gone from screen as soon as you hit the send key or try to get off of the sent to me PM and then you cant get back on site again. Also when at the top going to look at New Posts in the Discussion Forums drop down it still has print over print, Don't really bother me but could be a source of a problem.

I hear ya when I took a look at the PM sent as soon as I hit the key off site I went, and cant get back on but found that if I go to the Email and took a look at the PM I can click on the link to that and get back on the site. As to your PM,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ME TO!!!!

My cursor disappears and won't move when I try to edit post on the laptop/IE9. Don't know about PC/IE8, I usually can type better on the PC so I don't edit as much when I use it.

I will have to try and edit a post/reply with it.

Gary, I only experienced issues while using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome works fine, and I logged on yesterday with my Daughter's laptop using Firefox as the browser, seamless, no problems. Jess

IE in any form is a piece of 5hit. Worst Internet browser ever! Vista is the worst operating system ever installed on any computer since the UNIVAC. Use Firefox or Chrome and upgrade to Windows 7 and your problems will disappear!

I've had a few issues with the TDR website also, but not consistent and repeatable.
AHarris, I have used Windows operating systems since Windows 95 and XP. Presently using Vista on a laptop and it works specifically for one windows application. Recently tried Windows 7 and 8 on 5 different new computers! MAN all absolute JUNK!! 8 is the absolute PITS. Got an iMAC!

No matter HOW you cut it, the VAST majority of other Internet boards work seamlessly and flawlessly - and in my case, on my Windows 7 desktop plus either IE10, or Google Chrome - same 2 browsers on my older Vista and XP machine.

SO, if my various Windows OS and browsers are just FINE on all those OTHER boards, WHY does it all suddenly become "crap" here - and ONLY here, on TDR?
