Heck, I can get 9. 5 - 10 MPG pulling our 16,000 lb GVWR 5th wheel (see signature) at 70 MPH through the Texas Hill Country with 4. 10 gears! :rolleyes: My setup is one of the worst for fuel economy, and I can get 16-17 MPG at a 70-75 MPH unloaded cruise on the Interstate.

That ole boy needs to git his truck fixed! :{

Rusty

I could get 8mpg pulling Rusty's truck and trailer behind mine!!!!

milage?

Get him to have the injectors checked mine were poping at as low as 2500 psi and the best was 4100 psi. Way below the 4500 required.

does the truck seem to run smooth? coiuld be a serious fuel problem, ie:put the wrong fuel in it... i remember a while back we got a load of home heating oil (or something like that) instead of diesel, all of our equipment ran rough, but it ran... might be something to consider

Tim

Hate to go on a tangent, but localy, our #2 oil is #2 oil weather it comes out of the auto diesel pump, the comercial pump at the truck stop, farm tank, house furnace tank, etc. Some is dyed and some is not, thats all.

Although I understand some areas do still have different grade fuels for different applications (higher/ lower cetane or sufur levels).

Just a thought.

well, i got him to replace the fuel and air filters. it helped slightly. It seems like it doesnt have much power to me. I am thinking MAP as someone suggested earlier. Maybe it is in limp mode.

Also, when I got in his, the overhead console said 10mpg. I reset it and drove it pretty sanely and i averaged like 16mpg over about 5miles or so (according to the overhead thingy). So maybe it is partly his driving style, and partly the MAP.

fuel milage

Does anyone know what would cause it to take about 130 km's or (80 miles) for the over head display to register the normal milage on the display. This has happened 4 times so far??? :(
