Archived crazy FP readings

If you just blew on the line with your mouth it will feel restricted unless you had the fuel cap off. The cap doesn't vent until 3 psi, you'd be surprised how little pressure you can make by blowing.

YES FINALLY FIXED



Today I lifted the bed and checked the fuel sock. Some debris on inside of the plastic filter ,washed and reinstalled. Next check the fuel line. With both ends disconnected I blew through the line, it seemed too restrictive to me. Purchased new fuel line (stainless braided jacket and 3/8 I D) and installed. Drove the truck with the new autometer installed and the pressure never dropped below 11 with 30+ lbs of boost.



Later examined the OEM line and found two kinks in the plastic ends and they were both flattened. Also noticed that the quick connect ends necked down to -1/4 inch. Oo.

Followup

Dieseldawg, it has been very informative to follow the progress through the problem to the solution. Without proper gauges and followup I suspect many of us experience a lift pump failure and think after it has been replaced that our problem has been resolved. Some of the lift pump and VP-44 failures are probably caused by restrictions such as you have found. The dealers, understandably are not really interested in or have the time or incentive to determining what caused the failure but are rather interested in getting another irate customer out of their facility/off the phone. dieseldawg,glad it s fixed. Were you able to see the kink with the bed on,tank up,or did you need to drop the tank,or remove bed to see it? I bet yours isnt the only truck out there with this problem,the rest will just eat VP44's and lift pumps,and be called "lemons",since 90% of the dealers techs wil not go thru the trouble to properly find,and fix the real problem with the truck. Great job fixing it so quickly.
