Changed out the old Radiator in the 89 truck Ta o 92 cross flow rad this last week. I used a 92 core support, grille, 92 a/c condenser, complete intercooler set up.

If any one is interested in some of the pitfalls and problems I encountered, and how I overcame.

Let me know. I now know on what has to be done to allow everything to fit and what parts you need to

make the job go smoothly, I had to go to the stealer for some of my parts and found some are no longer available.

I will run the truck on my next days off and see how it performs. I don't know when I will run the trailer to test the cooling?

Oo.

Thierry I'd be interested in any info you can supply as I am going to do this exact same swap in the near future.

Can this be done and keep the '89 grill?

Thanks.

Jeff

Jeff I think you may be able to, but you would need to relocate the light buckets to fit the grill?

You will need to look in to it.

Main problem is finding a 92-93 core support and all the other parts.

92-93 ac condenser is different from 89-91 and you need the ac lines.

Turbo outlet is different on the inter-cooled trucks

89-90 truck intake is in different location and you need extra rubber couplings and a 3 inch piece of 2. 5 inch pipe ti get the tube to match to the intercooler

Thierry; I have a complete front end from a '92 less the grill. So it would be easier to use a grill and headlights from a '92-'93?

I believe the intake on the burnt '92 I bought is good. The hoses are gone.

Are you running an auto or manual transmission in your '89?

Thanks for the info.

Jeff

I have an auto with gear vendor, you also need the fan assembly off the 92 as its shorter and with the fan being set back the old fan asembly will not work, also sets the fan in the correct place for the new fan shroud.

swap radiator

got a couple questions, you can either E-mail me or post, is the "92" the first year that the crossover is availlable ? and does the rad. and intercooler come as one unit? i have a friend that wants to do this to his 89, and wants to go as cheap as possable. what is advisable for him to do. send me the does-don'ts.

Ran the truck from San Diego up to Lancaster and only saw it move 1 notch on the gage under severe load, 85 mph

up a grade, El Cajon pass, unloaded, used to see it go 3-4 notches before.

Real happy with total conversion, finally get to foget about heat problems.

Next thing on this old truck is to convert to disc brake rears. Oo.

thierry

per our conversation, i found a dealer here that done a lot of this work in 89-90. and has most of the parts available. now its up to my Friend to decide to do the work.

MLee,

I am about to do the same thing, so if your guy has anything left after he does yours, I'd like a crack at it.

Thanks,

Jim
