Cruise come on by it self??

My cruise light comes on by it self, with out me calling for the cruise. I turn it off with the controls on the steering wheel and some times it will come back on but not all the time. The last time it did it, the speed also increased??

Need direction to look in for possible problem. I took it to the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem. Said I needed to come back when it did it again??

Unplug the Batteries for 8hrs or Longer, this should delete the entire memory, If this does not work ,I would check the steering wheel switches,I cannot remember anyone have a problem with the clock spring in 3gens.

that for sure doesn't sound safe... at least its not your accelerator pedal. The computer should be logging that issue, someone chime in but am i not correct.

I have not worked on many full size trucks lately, my job has me working on Cummins ISM, ISX. What is a clock spring and what function does it serve?

The clock spring is a device install in the steering wheel and makes a connection when turning,At times they make connection(s) when they shouldn't.

More likely you have a switch problem or a shorted wire. The steering wheel switches are a mux circuit. In other words each switch has a different value resistor in a circuit to the PCM. When the PCM sees X ohms it knows you turned it on, X+X and it knows you requested set, X+X+X and you pushed resume and so forth. If the wire is shorted to ground or another wire, or you have a bad connection it might think X is X+X+X. So the controller thinks, hey, he just pushed the on button, I better turn it on.

Carefully inspect the wiring from the switches, the clock spring and to the PCM. Disconnect the battery when working around the air bag and clock spring.
