I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this or can explain it.

For argument's sake, lets say my cruise has been set at 50, then I slow down or stop. When I take off again, if I hit resume at, say 40, it feels like the truck immediately looses power. Not a complete loss of power, it's just not accelerating as fast as it was a second earlier.

If I'm running on cruise, then accelerate with the go pedal, everything seems OK. If I press the cancel button, it almost feels like the turbo kicked in.

In both situations, it is a very noticable increase/decrease in power.

None of my gassers ever acted like this!

The situation you describe is hard to imagine, but it could be your transmission being in the wrong gear. Like it's in O/D at 40 and when cruise takes over it stays in O/D, making acceleration sluggish. But when cruise is off and you're using the pedal, the transmission downshifts to 3rd, so you get better acceleration.

Just a thought.

On the way home tonight I played with it some more. In 3rd or OD with the TC locked-up, the truck seems to loose power when the cruise is engaged and gains it back when it's disengaged.

It's not downshifting or even going in/out of lockup, it's just a power change. It almost feel like I applied the brake when I engage it. Likewise, it feels like I released the brake when I disengage it.

I have noticed that if I hit "resume" and take my foot off the accelerator before the truck gets up to speed, it seems slow to accelerate. I've never liked a cruise control that "races" to the set speed, but this one seems unusually slow.

Ive noticed that the cruise is way more than the old brick on the go peddle.

I haven't had the loss of power but i have noticed that the computer must do some injection wizardy while ingage because the truck seems to sound different and I pick some MPG. I haven't got it nailed yet but I think your on to something, my truck had a recall on the computer related to cruise I have a 10/2002 build
