Cruise control cuts out for no apparent reason and then the engine goes to an idle and the check engine lite comes on and stays until I think 4 clean starts. After the truck slows down the engine will come back up to speed and seems to be normal. Anyone have any info on this one. :confused:

Dieslman, What year is your truck? Use the "User Control Panel" feature to set up your signature for you and your truck. Is your truck a 2000 to 2002? If so try this: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96261

If it's a 98. 5 to 1999, then goto an Advance Auto, a Pep Boys, or another large auto chain and get the codes read.

After you get the codes here is a list of them: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96634

I have printed the codes and put them in a binder ( if only I can find the binder :rolleyes: )so I have them for coffee night, or when ever. Just a guess would be a speed sensor problem, or a VP44 Issue :{

Do you have a Fuel pressure gauge? If not get one and/or a Low Fuel Pressure light. Don't run your truck under 6PSI :( for a long time as you will harm your VP44. Good Luck, Moose00 Oo.

Thanks for the come back, I was planning to get a code reader and read it out. The first time it happened they cleared after 4 or 5 starts. I read somewhere that they can do that for minor codes.

PS: I am looking for the user control panel. Where is it?
