You need to check your connections at the computer... Make sure you've installed the pins into the correct ports and that the male pins on the wires are locked into place... PacBrake suggests that these just plug in... we actually take the connector off the computer and make sure they are locked into place... If you've installed them in the wrong holes and have damaged them. . a pigtail replacement is available either from us or pacbrake..... but unless you use the tool to remove the wire you'll damge the connector... .

There is no direct tie into the circuit with your cruise control... . so you should have not effected the cruise at all..... make sure the fuse in the circuit is good... geez sitting here thinking the only fuse might be for the control circuit as the rest of the system is in the computer... .

Harry,

I would have thought whomever the store who installed would not have let you leave cruise control not working!

I've a Pac on my '04 and it works so ****-poor compared to how they work on the ole 12v I would not recommend anyone installing one. They just won't slow.

Have you called Pac brake about this?

I had a problem and they said they changed to a new solonoid valve and sent me a new pump and solonoid no charge under warranty and my pacbrake works better than ever now.

Although I never had a 12 valve with pacbrake so I dont know if they worked better on those.

I have an 04 with the PacBrake installed. The cruise will not work with the brake on but will work with the brake on off. I think but not really sure that the cruise control will work in an 03 with the Pacbrake on. It is all wraped around the electronic changes in the 04.

I have the PacBrake on my 03 and it works great, definately slows the truck down and works with the cruise control. I too had the motorhome solenoid sent to me. I remote mounted it on the battery tray so it is only a foot or so from the actuautor and the response time is great!

4 important issues... .

1 - I leave the pacbrake on all the time... . and throttle my foot to turn it on or off in traffic in town... the cruise should function with the pacbrake switch on.....

2 - the larger HP on your new truck means it has more retarding HP than your old truck... you either have a butterfly that is not closing like it should... don't have the air pressure you should. . or you have an exhaust leak between the turbo and the pacbrake casting... its suggested that this connection be rechecked 200 miles after installation... . we find a lot that leak some until the retorque...

3 - make sure your at 2000 - 2500 rpm for maximum retarding.....

4 - you can have your installer test the system for back pressure... There is test port and gauge assembly that all installers are to have and use to test and repair problems...

Nothing, I was having trouble with the brake when I installed it and they thought the solenoid was bad. They sent me the one form the motor home setup since they had never had a problem with it. When it trips to release pressure it sounds like the blow off on a semi!!
