2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Cruise Control doesn't work sometimes...

I have a 2001. 5 2500 Auto 4x4 and every now and then my cruise control doesn't work. I push the On/Off button but it won't come on... Not completely sure about this but I think the next time I start the truck up it works again, not sure if I just pulled over and re-started it if it would work, I'll try that next time, it's usually the next morning. It only happens about once a month. So I didn't think I should post this in the 911 form.



Has anyone else experianced this?

There is a sensor right above your brake pedal. It has a plunger on it that touches the brake pedal and disconnects the cruise when you depress the pedal. This was bad on our Jeep Cherokee, intermittent loss of cruise that got progressively worse. Do a search on cruise control and you'll find lots of info. To get this sensor module off you have to rotate it 45 degrees. It's about a $17 part to replace. Take it off and check continuity between the pairs of pins (1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6). If one pair doesn't show continuity, replace the part.

I think thats a differant problem

It's not unsetting the cuise like you hit the brake or pushed the "Cancel" button, It won't even power up...



Normally when you press the On button, the word Cruise is illuminated in your odometer. This indicates that the Cruise is on and ready to be used/set. Mine won't even power up... and its not just the odometer read out because I have pushed the power button and tried to set it and it doesn't work. So the On button just isn't activating the Cruise Controll.



Again this only happens about once a month.

did you have your clockspring replaced? You may want to check the ends to make sure that they are plugged in all the way. Might be nothing more than a bad connection.
