Ok Guys,

I installed a Horton Fan Clutch last nite (works great) and on the way to work this AM, hit the cruise button on the wheel and NOTHING!. Evidently either bumped something out of place under the hood or somehow blew a fuse. I'm thinking fuse since the cruise light on the dash does not even come on. Anyone know the location of a fuse related to cruise control? I don't have my FSM with me and want to look at lunch. Truck is a 2001. 5 auto 4X4. Fuse cover does not show cruise control. I was not under the dash as all wiring was previously done and run into engine compartment for later hook up.

Anything is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Maybe Clockspring?

Did your airbag light come on?

I lost cruise one day and my airbag the next. Quick fix, recall item.

No airbag light. No crunch. I had the recall done last month on the clockspring. Cruise worked fine yesterday, just not today.

look under/in front of the left battery. i think the module for the cruise control is under there. my memory is there are several connections to it including both electrical and vacuum. you may have dislodged one of the connections. at least a fairly easy thing to check.

I lost the cruise after clockspring replacement. Cruise worked good for a few days and then quit while driving. Seems a plug was not properly seated and needed to be reseated.

I agree with redneckdrn look under battery on drivers side under battery. The dealer did this once and I have accidentially pulled of vacumm line and no cruise control. If vacuum line though as I recall cruise indicator light worked just not the cruise control!!! By the way the line I knocked off runs by fuel filter and did it when changing it in case it happens to others changing fuel filter.

this discussion of cruise control reminded me of one of the few disappointments with the hd ram. i know that the new big rigs with electronically controlled engines have their cruise control as part of the ecm. the computer has input from the speed sensor, and activation of cruise switches on electronic control of the fueling--no vacuum servo to hold speed. without checking before i bought the truck, i assumed that with ecm would come electronic computer cruise control--was disappointed when i found the old fashioned vacuum servo on my cruise control. :(

Well, I finally got around to tearing into this thing looking for the problem of the cruise. I started in front at the Vacuum control module under the drivers side battery. What a pain to get out, anyway, don't bother with that guys. If your cruise control light won't go on, and you have had your clockspring replaced, go directly for the on/off cruise switch on the wheel. The  Technician:rolleyes: did not fully seat the locking connector back into the switch and it eventually vibrated out, hence, no cruise activation. You have to remove the airbag (2 bolts) but no big deal and the connector was laying there plain as day. Just make sure it seats and locks before you put the airbag back on. (Don't forget to disconnect the batteries  before unbolting airbag !)

Starting with the 2001. 5's the manual transmission trucks have a servo-less cruise.

I lost my "CC" about six months ago and took it in the dealer they replaced a speed sensor. The other night I went to put on my "CC" and it did not work again. I will be taking her in to the dealers sometime this week.

This is the only trouble I have had with my baby.

Other than getting beat in a truck pull by a "Bombed Ford power stroke". I'm running stock.

I hope this helps you.

See Ya

yeah, i guess if i wanted the electronic cruise control, i could have gone with the six speed. as you can see from my signature, i'm "old and shiftless". i'll just have to put up with the vacuum servo. that was one of the FEW disappointments with this truck. luv it more each day... ... ...
