Can someone help me with cruise control . It stopped working so I have been tracing it out and it looks like I have power at the fuse block but nothing is sent to the switch. The only thing that is between the fuse block and switch is the clock spring, according to the manual . Now can someone tell me what the heck the clock spring does and where it is located. I'm guessing under the dash but not sure 100%. ,is this something that usually goes out on the cruise or a freak problem. I have never heard of a clock spring,I want to get the cruise fixed pretty quick cause I got a 1600 mile trip to take so any help or insight someone has is appreciated.

Check on the throttle rod coming from the servo and make sure the adjusting clip hasnt come out. It did that on Mom's and the year I owned it, it didnt work. Bought a 93 W350 with cruise, and noticed the clip. Looked on the 92, and it was missing. put in a piece of wire and it has worked for 4 years now... .

I thought a clock spring was a wound spring? Maybe not. It is a type of spring, though. I'm sure of that. Cant help with much else

Clock spring is in the steering column. Pull the wheel and it's right behind it. It's black and round, contains a very thin flat loom of wires ( think inside of a CPU type of thing) wound maybe 50 times or so with a lot of slack. There is a plug on each end for the wires to come in and go out of the clock spring. This allows the steering wheel to turn without breaking any connections. Easy fix if you have a steering wheel puller. Simply pull it out, unplug it and plug the new one in. Be sure to align the slots on it when you put the new one in. Just replaced mine a few months ago, once I got it out and checked continuity to determine it was bad, I took it apart to see how it works.

It is quite expensive for a new clock spring, mine broke at one end so I scraped the coating off the wires and resoldered them with a very small soldering iron. Works good now.

There are two guide pins on the back of the clockspring, and one of mine had broken, resulting in very erratic operation. Check these- also check the vacuum line to the servo (cone lookin thing right in front of the clutch master cylinder, next to fender), and the big vacuum line to the vacuum pump(right in front , actually attached to, the power steering pump).

I've got front end problems currently, and my CC isnt working AGAIN- I think this time its shaking the brake pedal switch. This cruise control system has been a major PITB.

Yeah I checked withdodge for the part and was quoted 145 , and wouldn't be able to get it for a week. Does anybody know if the aftermarket makes one?

Check with more than one dealer, When I priced it there was a $25 difference between dealers here in Portland OR.
