Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) cruise control not working

My cruise control all of a sudden is not working. Recently, it was working, however it you hit a big bump in the road, it would shut off. Once it would shut off, you could not reset it until you turned off the truck and restarted. Now, I cannot get it to work at all. The little light come on when you turn the cc on, but it will not set at a speed. Has anybody had this or have an idea? I do not think it is a fuse as the small light still comes on when you hit the cc button. I am getting ready to go on a couple of trips and would like to give the foot a rest!

You might try checking the brake light switch. If it is activated by the bump, it will knock your cruise control out. Just like when you hit the brakes yourself.

Check the vacuum line to the module under the driver's side battery. It can get a hole in it if any acid from the battery dripped on it.
