Having the following problem:

99 2500hd 4x4 201,000 miles

Sometimes cruise light comes on and when you punch set -- the cruise light will go off. Most of the time the light will not come on at all.

Per numerous threads I just changed out the clockspring this evening -- no change. I have been the only driver of this vehicle since new and do not use tilt but I looked at as much wiring as I could see when column was apart and could not see any broken/chaffed wiring. Sprayed contact cleaner in both cruise switches while apart.

What next?

1. Brake switch

2. cruise on/off

Thanks for any help

Mike

Ps got my clockspring from RockAuto. Super service, inexpensive and very quick. Would recommend to anyone.

Mine kicks off when I hit bumps in the road.

Hold your brake pedal up with your foot while driving and see if the cruise will works. Mine is fine while lifting the brake pedal. You may need a brake switch or adjust what you have. My new brake switch is in the cup holder waiting for install. . :)
