When I had my injectors installed about two years ago, my cruise control became totally useless due to constant overshoot/undershoot. I have done without cruise control for all this time until recently. I read this procedure in my maintenance manual and I tried it. It works! I have my cruise control back. For those of you that have this problem, you might want to try this.

To "unlearn" the overshoot/undershoot condition, you must maintain a steady speed (not accelerating or decelerating), turn the cruise on, press the set button, wait ten seconds and turn the cruise off. Repeat this process 10 - 15 times.

That trick never has worked on mine. Mines too smart and cant unlearn! :D

Funny thing is... if I set it at 54 mph or under it will do just fine. If I'm going 55 mph or above it will take off and go up to 65mph which is when I chicken out (usually a 55mph zone) and shut it down. It climbs slowly but steadily. I'm thinking about installing a needle valve to control the vacuum. Maybe its getting too much vacuum at that speed or rpm.

I've done this on mine and it does work. I've acutally had to do it 2x b/c I think it got reset when the batteries were unhooked for a few days.

I just set / cancel (or is it turn off? can't remember) xxx times and it seems to learn it after a while. Now cruise sets and doesn't accelerate immediatly anymore (it used to take off really quick and leave a cloud of smoke). This is running DDIII's, fueling, and timing.

I had the same problem...

when I put my EZ on (set it at 55 and it took off hard to 65). Cruise was useless. This was in February, so I quit using it. I had a new VP44 installed in May. I tried the cruise again and low and behold, it is working correctly and is very smooth! Probably better than when the truck was stock. :D

The Practical Solutions High Idler kit I am using has an undocumented feature of desensitising the throttle. With it on, full throttle is more like half or 2/3 throttle. I can still get a normal idle if I turn the knob until just before the idle comes up. This makes the cruise work OK with my box at the higer settings without a load.

But, if you only need half throttle and half the power, it is much simpler to just turn the PowerMAX off or set it to a lower power setting.
