Cruise control vacuum line disconnect

Here's the situation; cruise control light turns on when the button is pressed, but won't set a speed and my vent system is stuck in defrost. OK, I do the search of the archives and find it is a classic case of someone else changing my fuel filter and knocking off a vacuum hose.



Hold the flame; I took it in for a little "adjustment" to the old P-7100 (that is a whole 'nuther post: ) and the fuel filter change was an afterthought.



So, I found the hose dangling and my question is: "Where do it go?" I know one hose goes to the servo under the driver side battery which needs to be removed in order to hook up the hose. THAT hose looks to be intact; it is still attached under the battery along with the cruise control throttle cable. The loose hose originates right next to the cruise hose (to the passenger side of it).



Any ideas? I do so have a manual; I just can't seem to lay my hands on it tonight.

Are you talking at the firewall? If so, that is the line that goes to the vacuum pump. The pump is in front of the power steering pump.

It is possible to reinstall the line without taking the battery out. I put on a new line and was able to put it back just fine. The vaccum tree that you are looking for is mounted on the firewall just below the gasket for the hood. And it should be just to the left of the injector pump.

Thanks for the help despite my poor description of the problem. Michael, it was indeed the vacuum pump hose that was off. Once you clued me in where to look, I found the open port on the pump and plugged it in. Both the cruise control and vent systems work again.



For those of you with offline suggestions; thank you for your interest, but I was actually interested in where ON THE TRUCK to stick the hose!
